Last Friday I was running my 10 kilometers in the morning as usual and whenever I go running you know I go listening to some Podcasts, right?
That morning I was listening to a special episode from BBC Learning with Roy and Feifei, I love them, they’re quite funny and they taught me about the expression MIC DROP and here I am to teach you this very nice expression too!
Well, this expression was originally created by the Hip hop singers that used to end their performances and concerts dropping the mic or the microphone.
But of course in the case of the expression I’m going to teach you now, you won’t need a real mic to drop it, okay?
It’s the figurative way of saying that you don’t want to talk about this topic anymore, take a look at this example:
🇺🇸 Don’t try to fix it! You told me you didn’t drink anything mic drop.
🇧🇷 Nem tente consertar! Você me disse que você não bebeu nada e ponto final.
So when you want to put an end to a discussion or stop talking about a very specific subject, you can use the expression mic drop.
